Burst of Red and Daisies by *FearfullyWonderfully was created in a detailed and thorough process which required the use of one color only and the plotting of when various portions of the image could be pigmented through the use of a rubber solution, forcing the artist to focus on individual steps towards the final image. The results are a simple but fetching composition with a lot of personality.

Description

Well, I a technically an art student, so I thought I should submit some of my pieces of art. It is rather strange for me to be an art student since college is the first time I have ever taken an art class. This is not a natural thing for me, but I am rather proud of this piece. It has its flaws, but all things do.

This is the first piece we did in my first painting class. We used acrylic paint and watered them down essentially making watercolors. We drew the composition on watercolor paper and used liquid frisket to mask the lightest areas and then put the lightest watercolor wash on then put another layer of the frisket on the next lightest area. We continued to do that until the whole thing was covered in the frisket, which dried kind of like a rubber. It was fun to pull that stuff off afterwards :-)
